Her remarkable talent has earned her several prestigious accolades, including The IIE-Artist Protection Fund Award (2020-21), The John Byrne Award 2021 (1st quarter), and The Scottish Women Awards in the Arts and Culture category (2022). Altowai's art series poignantly advocates for women's rights, explores the impact of war on children, and delves into themes of displacement, families, and migration. Actively contributing to the cultural landscapes of both Yemen and Scotland, she engages in multi-disciplinary, socially-engaged initiatives. Her compelling narrative, featured on BBC Scotland TV's Loop programme, was a finalist in the Refugee Festival Scotland Award 2022, highlighting her impactful journey and contributions to art and society.
